I like mountain biking but only as amateur rider and if I can hopefully ride alone. Even so, there are almost no places on this island that I didn't saw with my Marin bike as a way of transport. Al together some 8000 kilometers in two years. Not to much somebody will say but I work 8 hours a day - 6 days a week... do not forget!

From that experience I can tell you that this is one of best places to ride mountain bikes so I have made few recommendation's for nice routes on the south of island in section ROUTES.

I am talking about mountain bikes here, but if you ride road bike than I can say that we have nice roads here and you can have a good holiday pedaling but you will be unable to go off asphalt roads without big, fat tires. Why? Read more in section EQUIPMENT.

This island is volcanic and configuration of land & kind of surface (read more in section LANDSCAPES) will make impossible any attempt to ride or drive anything outside mountain roads, not only mountain bike.
