Landscapes Just watch this photo
Not to much to add. Well honestly if you arrive on Gran Canaria in day time you will be disappointed. The airport is located on ugly part of island. But do not worry, once you go uphill with your bike you will be amazed, probably. Top of island (2000 meters) is cowered with light forest. Very nice area as it is one flattened area so there is lot of space to walk, or to pedal, and so on. You could see fog, clouds and rain occasionally. If you go on north from top you will get to rural area with lot of green colors and agriculture. Soft landscape. That is where almost everybody is living. You finish down in Las Palmas. If you go to Northwest you will get to some amazing high cliffs. If you fall down from road you will have some 600 - 1000 meters to fall. COOL. Do not fall... Lot of caves and things like one little church inside natural cave.... If you go there it is nice to have backup with somebody in cars as it is remote and maybe it can be not so easy to go home. No tourists. Excellent view from top of volcano... You will finish in Galdar, home town of Rita... |
West side. Mountain wall that goes from Agaete to San Nicolas. As you pedal by narrow road you will ask yourself how many have died building this road... Do not add to that number. Southwest, Nice but inaccessible coast. Mountains. Mountains... Remote. Inhabited South, that is where you go as tourist. Landscapes that reminds on Grand Canyon in Colorado. Many "barancos" valleys - cliffs... Very dry, no water, no agriculture. Inhabited. Place to be for mountain biking.
East is ugly and overpopulated. Forget it (talking about coastal area). Anyway forget. Place to see is Pozo Izquierdo I can type and type but it have no sense. Once you came here you will se it. It have beauty on his own. I did fall in love but not before I forget a car and get there by bike. Locals call this place as Continent in miniature. I agree. You won't find anything similar in Europe. |
